La distilleria Glenrothes si trova poco fuori la cittadina di Rothes, in pieno Speyside. La data di costruzione \u00e8 il 1878 ma il primo distillato uscito dagli alambicchi \u00e8 datato 28 dicembre 1879. Leggenda vuole che James Stuart, il fondatore, avesse dei problemi economici e che non riuscisse a completare la costruzione, in suo aiuto arriv\u00f2 la persona pi\u00f9 insospettabile, il reverendo William Sharp della Chiesa Presbiteriana della vicina Archiestown. Il reverendo Sharp era devotissimo e un pilastro della comunit\u00e0, ma era anche cos\u00ec intelligente da capire che la costruzione di una distilleria avrebbe dato un lavoro stabile a diverse decine di persone, fu cos\u00ec che riusc\u00ec a persuadere attivit\u00e0 locali e personaggi di spicco a donare ben 600 sterline, la somma mancante per il completamento dei lavori della distilleria.<\/p>\n

Il\u00a0Glenrothes 9 Years Olddi Valinch & Mallet \u00e8 un single malt Scotch whisky distillato nel 2013 e invecchiato per 9 anni in un\u2019unica botte di primo utilizzo ex-sherry Oloroso. Questo whisky \u00e8 stato imbottigliato nel 2022 al suo grado naturale (52,9%) senza essere filtrato a freddo (unchill filtered) e senza aggiunta di coloranti in sole 369 bottiglie.<\/p>\n
